The designer wall clock appeared to be a misfit in the small living room of Raja sahib.
The exquisitely designed clock was acquired at a time, when the royal fortune was on the wane. Royal palace was rented out to a hotel group. Family heirlooms were being sold, discreetly, to maintain royal lifestyle.
The clock reminded Raja sahib of days that have gone past him. Only family item, this clock, he could not sell, because Chandni was fascinated by the drummer that would emerge every hour on the hour.
A girl, he had once loved and then shot dead.

Dear Abhijit,
I felt a bit sorry for Rajah sahib…until the last line. Nicely twisted.

So the Raja will be remembering his dead beloved every hour rather he will be tormented by her memory. Good take on the prompt.

Kings and nawabs used to do a lot of things in their suzerainty. Our Raja love someone. She liked somebody else. He found them together. Killed them. Now it does not want to get rid of her memory.

Too many memories also the worst one… I can see how he might crush the clock in the end rather than sell it.

Thank you for reading. He may not, because it still reminds him of good memory. But never know.

Thank you. Such a twist that a person is dead.

You’ve worked hard to make sure we understand why such a beautiful clock is in a modest living room, and why Raja sahib is reluctant to part with it. Well done.

I hope it torments him for the rest of his life. And that he loses everything. The people in power take it upon themselves to do their own justice deserve to suffer.

I guess if you’re royalty you can shoot whoever you want. However, I doubt women will be lining up to date him in the future–especially with the fortune waning.
