“Listen, I don’t believe in ghosts, or any other nonsense.”
“Yes I have heard many such blusters. When real situation comes, people wet their pants.”
A furious debate had erupted between believers and non believers.
“Are you calling me a sissy, Abhishek?”
“Yes I am, Avinash unless you prove otherwise by visiting the cemetery on a new moon night and collect your cap from the grave under the banyan tree, all alone. We all shall be waiting outside the gate.”
Friends escorted Avinash to the cemetery. After thirty minutes, Avinash returned with a cap on his head.
“I proved my point. Let me now show you all something inside.”
Friends, impressed with Avinash’s feat, followed him. There, under the banyan tree, Avinash was found unconscious with a cap on his head. The boy who invited everyone in, was nowhere to be seen. Cry of a jackal pierced the night.

This week Pegman takes us to the New Orleans, Louisiana. Mission is to write up to 150 words inspired by the location. More posts inspired by the prompt may be found here.
My post is not related to New Orleans. My post is inspired by the Lafayette cemetery.
Good improvisation!

The way you are meandering your writing in different genre, in different subject matters.

It all depends on prompts, I guess.

Oh my goodness, a banyan tree in a cemetery? I would say that I don’t believe in ghosts, and yet… that sounds too spooky for me!

What a ghostly double. Dont think he’ll take that dare again. The jackal was an eerie touch at the end.

You set up the twist nicely. Like 4963andypop, I thought the jackal was an excellent addition to the creepiness of your story.
Well done!
