Memory Lane #Friday Fictioneer

Railway tracks brought back a flood of memories. He would travel at least thrice a year by train from boarding school to home and back. Steam locos were dominating railway scene those days; electric and diesel locos were few are far between. Steam engines belching coal dust laced smoke whistling sonorously at bends, were his favorites. He would crane his neck out of window to catch a glimpse.

In a time conscious society, I miss those days when a delayed arrival would bring such spontaneous joy, because it would imply a delayed reporting at boarding school. Times were simple then.

    1. Thank you for reading. Bygone days are looked through the eyes of a boy who has to go to boarding school. You are right that past looks better, reality of the time may be different.

    1. Train travel is pretty common in my part of the world. Though these days many travel by plane and car, still train carries a lot of passenger in a cost effective manner.
