Arriving without a booking in peak season, he hoped to talk his way around.

 “Sorry sir,” answered the reception clerk, “nothing for a week.”

A lot of haggling later, manager offered an employees room at double the rent and no complementary breakfast.

Look at the view,” manager cooked up his most convincing fake sales pitch, “ don’t the beach and bay look gorgeous!

What about this ugly metal beam?”

You won’t even notice it,” manager argued with some conviction, “unless you spend time in the room; who does that on a holiday?

  1. I join the choir and say he’s lucky to get the room. Not including breakfast though is a bit too much for such an overpriced room but he can only blame himself. Great take on the prompt.

    1. Yes there should “the” before manager. Trying to economize for a 100 word fiction. Secondly, English not being first language, I tend to make mistakes.

      1. You speak English very well! I always think it’s better to have a few extra words and make it work, than to economize and possibly confuse your reader. Again, your English is wonderful, week after week! 🙂
