Unplugged Kettle #FridayFictioneer

Nirmala got up to the sound of whistling kettle to fix herself a cup of tea. A hardcore rationalist Nirmala could not believe what she saw. Kettle was blowing steam, but power cord was not plugged in.

Nirmala felt the ground move under her feet and walls were revolving around her. The connector cord had multipled into many cords of different colors; all of them were dancing around Nirmala.

 “Everything alright?” Nikhil asked finding Nirmala looking intently at the kettle, “why are you on the floor?”.

Vertigo probably!” gathering her composure, Nirmala answered, “must be tired from the flight.”

  1. A good, well-written story, Abhijit. It sounds like a hallucination to me. There can be more than one reason for it. If it happens more than once she should be seen by a specialist. I do believe poltergeists are possible, but I’d look for a physical reason first. —- Suzanne
